This is the cover for a game called 'Chaos Legion'. it is designed to draw attention to itself and interest the viewer. it is also meant to give you a feeling, about the game. the first time i saw it was when i got it for Christmas, in 2003 i think. the design is very symmetrical and uses lots of flowing lines in the design. the typography is very bold, and is made of some sort of metal. the quality is very good. it is computer generated, and is very realistic for 2003. the colours are supposed to be black and white, apart from the logo down in the bottom right, and the title (my version doesnt have the yellow line, or the green thing, which makes it look better). i really like this cover because it looks very artistic instead of trying to have everything going on at once.

this is the special edition cover for the album 'pressure the hinges' by 'haste the day'. it is designed to grab peoples attention and look interesting. i saw this design when i first came across the band and heard there music. the design uses 3 different fonts. one is very intricate and slightly hard to read, another is big and bold which stands out, and a the last font is smaller than the others because it doesn't matter as much. the type is all centered with the image. the artwork is very complex, and nice to look at.it looks a lot like it has been drawn with pencil (so it only uses 2 colours) which gives it a rough sort of feel. the design is interesting and original, and i really like the textures used and the way it pulls your eyes to follow the bird downwards.

This is a advert from the brand 'Adidas'. It uses the idea that less is more to create this ad. It is actually promoting Nike as well. At the bottom it says that they love competition. It makes Adidas seem as tough they care and are helping other brands, which makes them look good, and so people will want to buy there products. I saw it while looking for adverts that use the concept that 'less is more' as the main focus of the design. There not very much type with only the logo, for a picture. The solid colour attracted my eye to this design. It is very simple, and a bit confusing but works surprising well.

This is a logo for the band 'bullet for my valentine'. It is heavily influenced by art nouveau. the vines, flowers, and smooth flowing lines are all from the art nouveau style. It blends the picture with the type to produce a strong image. The colour scheme is analogous, using dark reds and purples. I first saw it a few years ago when i first heard of the band (2005). I think that the thing that i like most about the design is the curved, sharp letter and vines. It also managed to look almost symmetrical even though isn't. But the thing that original attracted me to it was the band.

these are the packaging for some sort of Asian matches. and I'm not to sure if they really exist, or if its just a joke. i found this while looking for interesting packaging. the packaging looks like it is aimed towards children, because of the colours, simple cartoons and the match heads have little faces on them. it also uses humor to draw in peoples attention. if these are real, then they probably would have been baned from being sold, because of the packaging, even though it doesn't have anything offensive, and looks very innocent. i think that it works very well... unless you get sued and become bankrupt for advertising matches to children.

this is a log for the band 'avenged sevenfold'. its is designed so that whenever people see this symbol it makes them think of the band, and promots it. it is eay to identify because of the destinctive skull with wings (it doesnt always have text). i first saw the logo on a album cover, which really grabs your attention. the art work is high quality and well drawn. the logo also gives you a indication as to which type of music it is (rock).

this is a advert for the bmw m5. it is designed mainly to make people buy the car because it seems powerful, and does this by using humour. the design is very simple and doesnt use very much type. it roughly uses the rule of thirds to draw your attention to the dog. the main thing that attracted me to it, was the humour of the ad. i think this works very well, and it really over-dramatises the power of the car.
